Style worked directly with the Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society, installing a practical folding wall in their recreation hall in St Leonards on Sea, allowing the space to be divided into two separate areas. As there may be noisy events on one side of the wall, while quieter ones take place on the other, the acoustic rating was important.

However, budget was also a key consideration for the charity. Taking this into account, Style recommended a Stylefold folding wall, with simple manual operation. With a 46 dB Rw acoustic rating this affordable, yet highly effective, partition solution provides an essential acoustic barrier for when concurrent gatherings are taking place.

The Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society is a self-funding charity, registered with the charity commission and affiliated to Royal Mencap. The society provides a day service (Open Door), residential home (Westwood), arts project (Active Arts), and social clubs for adults with learning disabilities.
Michael Porter, Style’s group managing director, said, “The Stylefold is a truly versatile folding wall that is perfectly suited to Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society. “We install a large number of this type of folding wall in community centres, primary schools and churches due to the simplicity of operation, high quality acoustics and effectiveness in dividing room space.”

The Stylefold partition is light and easy to move in and out of position which means the Mencap facility can be quickly divided into two or opened back up for various activities, multiple times each day. Finished in a laminate melamine to complement the interior styling of the hall, the centre folding hinged panels being top hung with no requirement for a floor track.
