When a local builder overseeing the renovation of a historic 18th-century property in Alderney required authentic, high-quality timber windows to complement the home’s character, they chose The Sash Window Workshop in Berkshire. Renowned for their ability to seamlessly blend traditional aesthetics with modern durability, the workshop was a natural choice.

Three stone houses with red roofs stand under a blue sky. A white and beige facade with balconies and plants in front creates a serene mood.

he project involved the careful manufacture of three traditional box sash windows and one Venetian sash window, each tailored to mirror the original design and detailing of the period property. The Sash Window Workshop worked closely with the builder to ensure the windows met exact specifications, resulting in a flawless fit during installation.

Crafted at the company’s state-of-the-art facility, the windows were manufactured using Accoya—an FSC-certified, sustainably sourced timber recognised for its outstanding durability and stability. With a 50-year anti-rot guarantee, Accoya is well-suited to Alderney’s coastal climate, providing the ideal solution for long-lasting performance.

Reflecting on the completed work, the homeowner remarked: "Everything went well and the windows fitted beautifully… The house was built in 1755, so the windows are very much in keeping with the period."
