Prolonged exposure to moisture can derail even the most carefully planned cross-laminated timber (CLT) project. Swelling, staining and structural setbacks are some of the reasons why protecting CLT and other structural timber systems isn’t just good practice—it’s essential. Adam Salt, Head of Global Sales Modular Offsite at Proctor Group explores how manufacturers and specifiers of CLT systems can work together to best effect to guard against moisture risks.

Structural mass timber solutions, and CLT panels in particular, are an increasingly popular choice. CLT offers a host of desirable qualities, including: potentially lower environmental impact than traditional alternatives; a good standard of airtightness; and attractive internal finishes that can contribute to healthier indoor environments.
